Abstract

The aim of this research is to know about the motivation of the bibliocrime that happened at Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library. This research is using qualitative research and case study. The method of collecting data are using interview, observation, and documentation. Data analysis is consist of data reduction, data display, and conclution drawing. Data validation consist of credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The result shows that bibliocrime that happened are 1) vandalism, 2) mutilation, 3) unauthorized borrowing, 4) hide the collections, dan 5) folding books. Then the bibliocrime motivation are 1) needs, 2) habit, 3) lack understanding of the users, 4) laziness, and 5) users did not bring the membership card. 6) another users also do bibliocrime, 7) collection loans can not be extended, 8) mulct is considered small, 9) borrowing receipt is out of stock, 10) power outage, 11) never caught or reprimanded, and 12) can not borrow some collections. The bibliocrime motivation are affect each other. Generally, users doing bibliocrime caused by more than one bibliocrime motivation.
