Abstract

Library based learning is an approach in education that utilizes libraries as the main source of information in the learning process. Besides this approach also requires cooperation between educators and library staff. This research was conducted at the Modern Islamic Boarding School Library Nurussalam Sidogede, South Sumatera. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing library-based learning at Pondok Pesantren Nurussalam Sidogede. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection in this study uses the method of observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis used in this study included data reduction, data display and data verification or inference. The results of this study indicate that library based learning in Pondok Pesantren Modern Nurussalam Sidogede is manifested in two activities including fathul polar and weekly discussion. From these two activities the writer then analyzes using the understanding of library-based learning presented by Sayekti by utilizing qualitative data obtained during conducting research. The results of the author's analysis are library based learning utilizing libraries as sources of information and knowledge, library based learning involves library personnel in learning activities, library based learning teaches skills for finding and using information
