Abstract

This study aims to find out how to manage philological collections at the West Nusa Tenggara State Museum as well as the obstacles that arise and how to find solutions in managing philological collections. The results of this study are presented in accordance with the theory of Supriyono & Maryono, namely the management of rare collections in the form of ancient manuscripts starting from the procurement of collections, registration and inventory, preservation (maintenance) until the collections are presented in the collection room or stored in the collection storage room. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. In this study, researchers used data analysis techniques through three stages, namely data reduction, data display and making a conclusion. To test the credibility of the data, the observation extension, persistence and triangulation techniques were used. The results of this study are (1) The management of philological collections which includes procurement is found in 3 ways, namely compensation, grants and deposits from the people of West Nusa Tenggara. The processing of philological collections is carried out by registration and inventory stages, while the presentation of philological collections is carried out by preparation or collections arranged or presented in the form of exhibitions in the museum exhibition room with communicative, informative and educative elements and using evocative, aesthetic, intellectual or thematic methods arranged by type. and materials, and storage of philological collections is placed in a collection warehouse (storage) also based on type and material. Maintenance of philological collections is carried out with museum conservation activities in the form of preventive and curative measures. (2) Obstacles that arise and how the solutions in managing philological collections are procurement; this is rarely done because the regional government does not budget, so the solution is to carry out procurement in accordance with the needs and requirements of procurement from the community, processing; the registration and inventory process is still manual, the solution is the museum collaborates with the Gade Pudja Mataram State Hindu Institute (IAHN), NTB, presentation and storage; the storage space does not meet the standards and meet the requirements, the solution is to check the collection once a week and routinely carry out cleaning, as well as maintenance or care; less staff in terms of collection maintenance, the solution is maintenance is carried out in the form of a team.
