Abstract

This study's purpose is to find out how the librarian of UIN Sunan Kalijaga carries out his duties as a provider of information in carrying out user education for new students. There are two benefits of this research, theoretical benefits, and practical benefits. Theoretically, this research is expected to contribute to the development of science, especially to knowing the duties of librarians as providers of information do user education. While practically, this research is expected to be a reference for researchers and libraries. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. There were seven informant in this study, consisting of three librarians of the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library and four librarians of the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library. Data collection techniques used are documentation, interviews, and observations. The data validity test that the researchers did was triangulation, time extension, and observation persistence. The data analysis used in this research is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results from this study are that the librarian of UIN Sunan Kalijaga routinely conducts user education for every new student starting to carry out lecture activities, this is one of the implementations of the librarian's task as a provider of information.
