Abstract

This study examines social deixis in the Four Lions movie. Four Lions shows the distant social relationship between each characters. The purpose of this study is to analyze the social deixis contained in the Four Lions movie. In this study, the researcher uses social deixis by Fillmore This study used descriptive qualitative method. The researcher used purposive sampling data collection techniques because the researcher collected the data based on the research objectives, so the results were more representative. The results of this study indicate five kinds of social deixis used in the Four Lions movie, namely; person marking, various ways of separating speech levels, various ways of names, titles, and kinship terms, various ways of performance that can be considered as social actions, ways of linguistic's performance that can accompany other social activities.
