Abstract

During a Covid – 19 pandemic the government applies policy of distance learning for school. Some of the challenges faced by students and teachers when did disctance learning including which resulted in decreased student learning motivation. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome these challenges is parental social support when students did distance learning. This Study aims to determine the relationship between parental social support and motivation to learn elementary school student who did distance learning during Covid – 19 pandemic. This study used parental social support scale and student learning motivation scale. The sample in this study amounted to 253 subjects with an age range of 9 - 12 years or grade 4 – 6 Elementary school in Yogyakarta Special Regiom Province. A sampling technique using Quota sampling. The data analysis technique is using Spearman rho for test the correlation between variables. Based the analysis result of hypothesis testing using Spearman rho, showed a positive relationship between parental social support and student learning motivation who did distance learning during covid – 19 pandemic, with significant value p <0.01 and corellation value is amount 0.718.
