Abstract

This research was motivated by the anxiety of researchers on (1) the teaching materials used when learning thematic subjects of class II Indonesian language at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Baiquniyyah Yogyakarta. (2) The teaching materials used are inadequate, only in the form of teacher package books that have been provided by the school, the leaguage used in the books difficult for student to understand, and (3) there are no instructions in the reading book so it is less interesting to learn. This study uses research and development methods, this study aims to produce a product in the form of picture story teaching materials, the research location is at MI Baiquniyyah Yogyakarta, the popolution and samples using the population are all students of class II A, the design of this study a 4D/ID, the data collection instruments of this research are data from expert assesement, questionnaires, interviews, tests, and analysistechniques. This research in the main field test with statistical tests, hyphotesis testing, t-test (one-group pretest-post test). This research resulted in the (1) development of illustrated story teaching media, especially Indonesian language material for class II package in the form of books, illustrated story teaching media media focused more on understanding student in everyday life so that they were more interested in reading learning materials.(2) The media of illustrated story teaching materials that were developed were deemed suitable to be used as a source of thematic learning of Indonesian language material based on the assessments of onstrument experts, material experts, media experts, practicioner experts/ teachers, and test subjects.
