Abstract

Distance learning is learning that is carried out without direct meetings using information and communication technology. The use of this system as an alternative in preventing the Covid-19 virus in the world of education. However, distance learning has a negative impact on the mental health of students such as being quiet, apathetic, irritable, bored, lazy and lacking concentration in learning. The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of distance learning (online) and the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning (online) on the mental health of students during the Covid-19 period in grade IV SD N Sembungan for the 2021-2022 academic year. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with the type of survey research. The population in this study was grade IV SD N Sembungan for the academic year 2021/2022 with a total of 24 students. The sample used is a total sample so that the entire population is used as a sample. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and interviews. Meanwhile, to analyze the results of the study using descriptive analysis. Based on the data taken with the questionnaire from the research results from 24 respondents, it was found that 14 students had good mental health, 4 students were in the moderate category and 6 students were in the low category during online learning. The advantages of distance learning on mental health are fostering independence, responsibility and so on. Meanwhile, the disadvantages of distance learning lie in gadget addiction, parents' economic ability, and new habits which, if unable to adapt, will disrupt the mental health of students. Maintaining the mental health of students requires the contribution of families, schools and communities.
