Abstract

In this study, researchers have a problem formulation, namely how the emotional development of students by paying attention to 5 aspects of the basic components in the development of EQ (Emotional Qoetient) is reviewed through the role of children's literature in Class 1 SDN Krawitan. This study aims to determine and describe how the role of children's literature in the effort to develop emotional intelligence for children in Grade 1 SDN Krawitan, especially for children aged 7-8 years. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis that the researcher did was through several stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The result of the research is that children's literature has a role in the development of emotional intelligence of grade 1 students at SDN Krawitan with five important aspects of EQ, namely recognizing emotions, managing and expressing emotions, motivating oneself, empathizing or recognizing other people's emotions, and being able to build relationships with others. Grade 1 students at SDN Krawitan show that students are able to recognize and express their emotions, are able to hold back anger towards their classmates, empathize with friends, do not differentiate between friends in socializing and can appreciate and can communicate well with others. Based on the results of the study, there are suggestions, namely parental supervision of children in the use of gadgets, and parents are expected to be closer to children so that children can be comfortable making them friends to confide in and tell stories.
