Abstract

The problem behind this research is the low interest in reading in Indonesian society which is increasing, so there is a need for public awareness to increase interest in reading from an early age. With the increasing interest in reading in early childhood, it is necessary to have a method that is appropriate for early childhood development. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the activity "Searching for Objects with Front Letters" in increasing interest in reading in PAUD children. This is a classroom action research conducted in class B PAUD KB Addauda, with 16 children as subjects. Data collection techniques in this study used action observation techniques, interviews, and documentation with observation checklist instruments and were analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods. The results show an increase in children's interest in reading from before the action was taken. In action cycle II, the percentage of children's interest in reading increased by 81% and reached the specified success indicators. This shows that the activity of looking for objects with the first letter is effective in increasing interest in reading in PAUD children.
