Abstract

The Al-Qur'an learning method which is currently developing and known by the public has quite a lot of variants, one of which is the ummi method. This method is considered quite effective in improving the ability to read the Koran in both formal and non-formal institutions. SDIT LHI is one of the formal schools that uses the Ummi method which has been running for more than 5 years until 2022. However, the learning process was slightly disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic which spread to Indonesian in 2021. This phenomenon makes prose learning change, can the process of learning the Qur'an using the ummi method still be said to be effective during a pandemic. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation, effectiveness and influence of using the ummi method and learning motivation on students' ability to read the Koran during a pandemic. This research approach uses a phenomenological approach and Concurrent Embedded Design by combining qualitative and quantitative methods which are mixed unequally. Research subjects used purposive sampling techniques in the data collection process researchers used interviews, observation, documentation, tests, pretest and posttest. The results of the research are: First, the implementation of Al-Qur'an learning using the ummi method during a pandemic can run well through a learning process that takes place in a blended learning manner with the fulfillment of several learning indicators. Second, learning the Qur'an during a pandemic using the Ummi method is classified as effective based on the results of the pretest and posttest scores, there is a difference in the pretest average, which is 61.03 and the posttest score is 94.82. Third, there is a significant influence on the use of the ummi method and motivation in improving the ability to read the Koran during a pandemic with the result Fcount 53.263 > Ftable 3.37. This means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So that there is a significant influence between the use of the ummi method and learning motivation on the ability to read the Koran for fifth grade students at SDIT LHI during a pandemic.
