Abstract

Preaching is not only conveying the message; the way the message is conveyed also needs to be considered so that the message conveyed can be well received. Ustadz Abdul Somad's use of communication ethics in conveying his da'wah as a popular preacher in his homeland cannot be separated. He is a preacher who uses technology to spread da'wah. There are two research focuses sought in this study, namely, to see the suitability of the ethical principles of communication implemented in conveying Ustadz Abdul Somad's da'wah messages on YouTube media and to know how to convey Ustadz Abdul Somad's da'wah messages on YouTube media. This type of research uses library research with a qualitative approach. Sources of data obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation The results of this study found that, first, the communication ethics implemented by Ustadz Abdul Somad on YouTube media did not apply the six ethical principles. From the findings of researchers in the four videos analyzed, Ustadz Abdul Somad applies the principles of qaulan sadidan (correct words), qaulan baligha (words that are right on target and leave an impression), and qaulan maysura (words that are easy to understand and appropriate). Whereas the delivery of Ustadz Abdul Somad's da'wah messages is not in accordance with the principles of communication ethics, namely, qaulan karima (noble words), qaulan layyina (gentle and pleasant words), and qaulan ma'rufa (good and appropriate words). The discrepancy is based on: First, the words of Ustadz Abdul Somad, who offended the symbol of Christians by saying that on the cross there is an infidel genie. Second, say Koreans are infidels, uncircumcised, and bathing is mandatory. third, delivering the message with explosive intonation. Fourth, it says that people who go to heaven will be pulled into hell for donating to Starbucks. In this case, the delivery of Ustadz Abdul Somad was in a language that was easy to understand. It's just that the language used is still harsh enough to irritate Mad'u. Ustadz Abdul Somad considers the circumstances and situations of the person being preached to when conveying the da'wah message. This can be seen in the video of Ustadz Abdul Somad lecturing at a mosque whose target audience is Muslims. The message conveyed by Ustadz Abdul Somad was a question from the congregation and was not included in the theme of the study. to make it easier for Mad'u to understand what was conveyed in explaining Ustadz Abdul Somad by giving examples and humor.
