Abstract

The research aim is; (1) To know that there is correlation between information readiness and users information needs at the library of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta; (2) To know the fulfillness of information needs for the users at the library of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. (3) To know the correlation of library colection readiness with information needs fulfillness for users at the Psycology Faculty of Surakarta Muhammadiyah University. The population of the research are all the students who are active as library members of Surakarta Muhammadiyah University. The sample is taken from the students of Psychology Faculty. Based on sample determination, the researcher takes 81 students as respondents. The technique of taking the sample is called random sampling. The technique of collecting data is through observation, questionnaire, and literature study. The data is analyzed using Product Moment Person to know correlation berween collection readiness with fulfillness of information needs for users. While hypothesis examination is done by comparing counting r value and table r value at the reliability grade of 95% ( α = 0,05). Counting r value 0,535 ≥ table r value 0,219. It means that Ho hyphothesis is rejected and Ha is accepted.The statistical analysis is obtained that correlation value that is 0,535. It means that there is positive and significant correlation with users information needs for the students of Psychology Faculty of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. Based on the research above it can be concluded that Surakarta Muhammadiyah University library is hoped to serve and inprove its service, quantity and quality of books collection, to give other facilities that can make the users comfortable in it and to update collection and information it has relevant with information needs for users.
