Abstract

Background: basically the college library serves as an information provider for its parent institution are appropriately library provides information in a variety of library materials such as textbooks, reference, magazines or journals and other library collections, but in fact often the collection is not being utilized maximum. Case study in the library STIKES Wira Husada Yogyakarta that students are less able to take advantage of Nursing collection of journals owned by libraries STIKES Wira Husada Yogyakarta. Objectives: The study aims to determine how the use of journals in the preparation of thesis by a student of Nursing at the library STIKES Wira Husada Yogyakarta. Methods: This type of research is quantitative descriptive. To examine the use of the journal used a questionnaire to gauge the Likert scale. while for the data analysis used descriptive percentages and interpreted using a pre-determined benchmarks. Results: of several indicators which have averaged the results can be obtained: at 64.9% indikaor needs or in the category of moderate, 48.9% or motive in the low category, 59.3% interest or in the category of being, the complete collection of journals, or 59.9% in the category of being , the skills of librarians in serving pemustaka 71.4% or higher in the category and availability of search tools, or 49.8% in the low category. Of the total amount or a percentage score on each indicator is obtained on average 59.1%, this means in katagoti being. Conclusion: in this study can be known values for the utilization of the journal is 59.1%, This suggests that the use of journals in the preparation of thesis by a student majoring in Nursing at the library STIKES Wira Husada Yogyakarta in the category of being.
