Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effect of the variables GDP, International Trade and Inflation on foreign debt, this study was conducted using the theory of dependency, this study used quantitative methods, the regression tool used in this study was panel data using data processing tools eviews 10, The sample of this research is 10 countries with the highest debt per capita in the world with an observation period from 2010-2019. GDP has not a effect on foreign debt in 10 countries with the highest debt per capita, the better a country's GDP, the greater the country's ability to pay debts, therefore GDP has a positive effect on foreign debt. Imports (IMP) have a significant negative effect on foreign debt in 10 countries with the highest debt per capita, the better the import value, the higher the country's income, so that the country will be able to pay its foreign debt. Inflation (INF) has not effect on foreign debt in 10 countries with the highest debt per capita, the higher the inflation rate, the lower the exchange rate against foreign currencies, if it continues it will result in the country unable to pay its debt.
