Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between secure attachment toward coach and self confidence in facing the competition on the athlete of UKM Taekwondo Indonesia Dojang UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The hypothesis of this research is that there is a positive relationship between secure attachment toward coach and self confidence in facing the competition on the athlete of UKM Taekwondo Indonesia Dojang UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The subjects of this research are 63 athlete of UKM Taekwondo Indonesia Dojang UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The Purposive Sampling technique is chosen as a technique for taking samples of this research. The instrument of data collection which is used in this research is self confidence scale and the scale of secure attachment toward coach. To analyze the data, the technique correlation of Pearson's product moment with SPSS 16.00 program for Windows is used. The results show that there is significant positive relationship between secure attachment toward coach and self confidence, which has a correlation coefficient (rxy) = 0.599 and p = 0.000 (p <0.001). Thus, the higher level secure attachment toward coach, the higher level self confidence of athlets. Conversely, the lower level secure attachment toward coach, the lower level self confidence of athlets. The secure attachment toward coach affects the athlets' self confidence by 39.5% as indicated by the R square = 0.395.
