Abstract

Self-confidence is one of the most important personality problems in a person, in the absence of self-confidence in many problems that will occur in a person's life. The lack of self-confidence is a factor, one of which is peer support, especially for young women who use make-up in Indonesia with an age range of 18-21 years. This study aims to determine the relationship of peer support to the self-confidence of adolescent make-up users. The subjects of this study were young women aged 18-21 years who were 393 in Indonesia. The sampling technique in this study is Accidental sampling. The measuring instruments used are the peer support scale and the confidence scale. This research uses quantitative methods. The data analysis method in this study is a product moment correlation technique. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that there is a positive relationship of peer support to the self-confidence of adolescent make-up users, with values rxy= 0,694 With p = 0,000 < 0,01. The study found a significant positive relationship between peer support for self-confidence, This means that the better the peer support relationship, the higher the confidence and the effective contribution of peer support to self-confidence of 48% is indicated by the coefficient of determination (r2) = 0,481 and that means there are still 52% of other factors that affect self-confidence.
