Abstract

Religious moderation is an act of not deviating from the agreed rules or provisions. The word is used to refer to extremism and radicalism, which means that moderation can be interpreted as the attitude of someone who has honesty, justice, compassion and tolerance towards others. The Ministry of Religion and religious leaders such as M. Quraish Shihab vehemently reject this attitude. Considering that Indonesia is a country with religious and cultural diversity, religious moderation is needed to avoid intolerance towards these differences. Indonesian religion is a subject of study that is widely studied both in formal and informal environments or institutions, so that channels or mediators can be seen discussing religious moderation both in writing and audio-visual form. This research examines the discourse of religious moderation on Tiktok social media. This study analyzes the discourse of religious moderation on the Tiktok social media account edited by M. Quraish Shihab with a special Panritaid video. This study uses non-participant observation methods and documentation to complete the subject data. The object of research is the construction of religious moderation discourse in video analysis of Panritaid M. Quraish Shihab from Tiktok, which is then analyzed using the Teun A. Van Dijk model which explores text, social thought, and social context. Based on the results of research and discussion of religious discourse moderation videos by author M. Quraish Shihab, the researchers concluded that: M . Quraish Shihab and Father Budi Purnomo spoke to express religious moderation, provide a clear understanding and use universal language to be easily understood by Indonesian people. This discussion on religious moderation will certainly have a major impact on people's attitudes because M. Quraish Shihab is an extraordinary scholar and religious figure who has the power to convey this understanding.
