Abstract

The interaction between monetary and fiscal policies is always interesting to discuss in order to achieve the welfare of the people. This study aims to determine the importance of the interaction between fiscal policy makers and monetary policy makers, as well as the most relevant strategies to be applied in each policy. Fiscal policy is managed by the Government, using the state budget as a proxy for income and expenditure. Meanwhile, monetary policy is implemented by the Central Bank, using the Indonesian bank interest rate as a proxy. In addition, economic growth and inflation are the ultimate goals of each policy. The data used in this study is from the year 2000 to 2022, using game theory both from a cooperative and non-cooperative perspective. The players are assumed to have different goal focuses. Based on the smallest loss, it informs that the non-cooperative game results in greater losses for the country's economy. Meanwhile, the appropriate strategy to choose is expansive fiscal policy and contractionary monetary policy.
