Abstract

Apart from being used to share information and find inspiration, social media is also often used as a means for individuals to express themselves. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-esteem and self-disclosure in early adulthood Instagram users. Subjects in this study were 103 people with an age range of 20-34 years. The design of this study uses a correlational design. The sampling method used in this study was purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The measuring instrument used to collect data is the Self-Disclosure Scale using the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (RSDS) with an alpha coefficient of 0,850 and a self-esteem scale with an alpha coefficient of 0,859. The collected data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment technique. The correlation value of self-disclosure with self-esteem was obtained at 0,214 with a p value of 0.030 (P <0,05). The results of this study indicate that there is asignificant relationship between self-esteem and self-disclosure in early adulthood Instagram users in Yogyakarta. The relationship between variables is positive, if the higher the individual's self-esteem, the higher the individual's self-disclosure.
