Abstract

Perceived negative peer pressure and conformity on social media among students can lead to deviant behavior, causing problems. This study aims to determine the relationship between perceived peer pressure and conformity among students on social media. The research utilized a quantitative correlational method, with 181 students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta participating as subjects. The data analysis method employed was linear regression. The research instrument used a conformity scale and a perceived peer pressure scale on social media, both developed by the researcher. The results of the study indicate a significant influence between perceived peer pressure and conformity among students on social media, with an R value of 0.223 and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.0499. This means that 4.99% of the variation in social media conformity is influenced by perceived peer pressure, and the hypothesis of this study is accepted. The results of the linear regression analysis can be predicted using the formula: Conformity = 10.769 + 0.913 (Perceived Peer Pressure). Therefore, it is expected to avoid the negative influence of perceived peer pressure and conformity on social media.
