Abstract

Providing early education to children is part of the obligations and responsibilities of parents to their children. So there is a need for parental awareness of early childhood education, both formal and informal education. Blok Saptu Desa Werasari consists of 4 (four) RTs, and there are 32 children aged 4-6 years. From the results of the initial pre-research, it was found that there were children aged 4-6 years who had not attended school. This is evidenced by the large number of children who have not registered at formal educational institutions in Werasari Village. Out of 32 children aged 4-6 years, only 15 children have been enrolled in formal educational institutions. The aims of this study were to: (1) determine parents consciousness of the importance of educating children aged 4-6 years in Blok Saptu Desa Werasari Kecamatan Malausma (2) identify the factors that influence parental awareness of the importance of educating children aged 4-6 years in Blok Saptu Desa Werasari Kecamatan Malausma. This research was conducted with a qualitative descriptive approach. This research was carried out for 1 month, from March 27 2023 to April 27 2023. This research was carried out in Blok Saptu Desa Werasari Kecamatan Malausma. The subjects of this study were parents who had children aged 4-6 years in Block Saptu. By using the method of collecting data through observation techniques, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique is carried out by means of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data validity test in this study was carried out using a triangulation technique. The results showed that (1) Parents' awareness of the importance of educating children aged 4-6 years in Blok Saptu is at a conscious and pre-aware level. Of the 10 respondents, there were 5 parents with a conscious level, namely parents fulfilling all existing indicators, knowledge, attitudes and actions, namely having provided formal and informal education. Meanwhile, there were 5 parents at the pre-conscious level, namely parents only fulfilled two indicators, namely knowledge and attitude, while the action indicators had not appeared, namely they were still delaying the provision of formal education. (2) Factors that influence parents' awareness of not yet providing formal education to their children are fundamentally the condition of the community environment. Factors that influence the awareness of parents who have given education to their children are the condition of the family environment, family economic conditions and parents' educational background.
