Abstract

This research is motivated by learning Arabic which has not yet applied HOTS skills in its learning and the lack of interesting learning media innovations for learning Arabic, therefore in this study researchers offer a learning media that helps teachers and students in the learning process. This study aims to: (1) find out the procedure steps for developing PowToon animated videos in learning Arabic (2) identify the effectiveness of PowToon animated video learning media in improving higher order thinking skills and Arabic reading skills. This study applies Research and Development R&D, which uses the ADDIE model through 5 stages of development, namely (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation. ) and (5) Evaluation (to evaluate). The subjects of this study included one media expert, one material expert, and 7th grade E students at the Integrated MTs Roudhotul Qur'an Lamongan, a total of 32 students. The method of collecting data in this study was using questionnaires, interviews and learning achievement tests, while the data analysis techniques in this study were a mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods. The results of this study are: 1) The product design and product validation stage is carried out by experts, namely media experts and material experts. The results of the validation of the Powtoon animated video media by media experts obtained a percentage (84%) categorized as "Valid", the results of validation by material experts obtained a percentage (88%) categorized as "Valid", the Arabic subject teacher response questionnaire with a percentage (92%) categorized "Very valid" as well as a student response questionnaire with a percentage (90%) categorized as "Very valid". Therefore Powtoon animated video learning media is feasible to use. 2) The development of Powtoon animation video media has proven effective in improving students' high-level thinking skills, through the results of pretest and posttest calculations, then analyzed by t test analysis, with the results of t count > t table with 12.33 > 2.039, which means there is a big difference significantly between before and after using the developed product. It is recommended that this product can be used for students in learning.
