Abstract

The library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is an integral part of activities in higher education. In 2016, the Library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta won an award as the recipient of the inclusion award from the Disability Service Center. In 2020, the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia awarded the Library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta as an international networked library and social media for the Library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, namely the Instagram library @perpusuinyogyakarta with 22.3 thousand followers. This study aims to examine the leadership style of the head of the librarian in developing the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library program. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive study method. Eight informants were determined using a purposive sampling technique. Retrieval of data in this study using observation, interviews, and documentation related to research. Test the validity of the data using the technique, source, and time triangulation method. The results of the study found that the three forms of head librarian leadership styles were based on Ki Hajar Dewantara's leadership trilogy. First, the leadership style of the head of the librarian in developing the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library program with the slogan ing ngarso sung tulodho is in accordance with the leadership of Ki Hajar Dewantara. This suitability can be seen from the 5-character values contained in exemplary-based head librarian leadership, namely discipline and responsibility, innovative and creative, nurturing, honesty, independent and confident. Second, the leadership style of the head of the librarian in developing the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library program is in accordance with the leadership of the second Ki Hajar Dewantara, with the slogan ing madyo mangun karso. This can be seen from the 4 values of the idea-based leadership character of the head of the library, namely, dynamism, inspiration, achievement, and collaboration. Third, the leadership style of the head librarian in developing the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library program with the slogan tut wuri handayani in accordance with the leadership of Ki Hajar Dewantara consisting of 4 motivational-based leadership character values of the head librarian namely, effective, and efficient, free, and fair, kinship, supervising and accompanying. Appropriate and professional leadership behavior of the head librarian can foster librarians and library staff in building solid and harmonious relationships in the work environment. As well as the activities carried out in the library can be carried out properly in developing library programs
