Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction of the OPAC library at Mulawarman University, Samarinda. Using a qualitative descriptive research method with usability testing and research subjects Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). Collecting data using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study used data reduction, data presentation, and verification and drawing conclusions. Finally, the researcher validated the data by re-checking with the persistence of observation and careful triangulation of all the data that had been obtained (credibility), providing detailed and in-depth descriptions of the research results (transferability), discussing/checking data with colleagues who had same knowledge related to this research topic (dependability), as well as a certainty test by seeking the approval of several people including informants and supervisors regarding opinions and views on matters related to the research focus (confirmability). The results of this study can be seen that the OPAC library at Mulawarman University Samarinda has the effectiveness of easy access to find information, helping users to access the library more easily, the system is open source so that it is easy to custom, fast search times. Efficiency in the form of available features that are easy to remember, signals and networks that are sometimes unstable due to external interference, icons on menus and OPAC web pages are easy to understand without learning. Satisfaction in the form of the realization of the new mapping feature on OPAC, updating the status of books that need to be checked periodically, increasing internet capacity according to student needs, not all book covers have been uploaded to the system, as well as socialization of the use of the system that needs to be improved.
