Abstract

This research departed from the low percentage of student learning outcomes that had met the target, thereby requiring the need to improve student learning outcomes. Thus, it is necessary to apply models and approaches appropriate to the topic of photosynthesis for Natural Science. This research aims to (1) determine the effect of the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) learning model in Natural Science and its relevant topics on student learning outcomes for the fourth year of elementary students. (2) determine the effect of Inquiry Based Learning in Natural Science and relevant topics on student learning outcomes, particularly for the fourth-year students of elementary school. (3) determine the effectiveness of implementing the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) learning model and inquiry-based learning in Natural Science and relevant topics on student learning outcomes in the fourth-year students. This study used a pre-experimental quantitative approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The samples amounted to 33 fourth-year students, who were randomly selected, consisting of 14 male students and 16 female students. This research did not use a comparison class or control class but only used one experimental group to receive treatment. The data were collected based on tests, questionnaires and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded, (1) there is a comparison before and after the application of the SAVI learning model (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) in science subjects photosynthesis material and has a positive influence on student learning outcomes. (2) there is a comparison of student learning outcomes before and already the implementation of inquiry-based learning in science subjects, photosynthesis material and has a positive influence on student learning outcomes. (3) the SAVI learning model (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) and inquiry-based learning in science subjects photosynthesis material is effective on learning outcomes has a positive effect on learning outcomes.
