Abstract

The present reseachis aimed to know information searching acceseed by users of MNS Faculty Library of Gadjah Mada University. The obtained results are expectedto be useful and give insightsinti information and library field as well as increase the role of the library and providing information for all members of the faculty. It is a descriptive research with the research setting of MNS faculty Library of Gdjah Mada University Yogyakarta. Data are collected by using method of enquette, interview, observation and documentation. The results show that most of respondents (54.8%) search for information in the library more than three times in a week. Regarding with the kind for information acceseed, almost a half of respondents (38.7%) search for infotainment, hot new, and music info from internet, newspaper, magazines. 60.2% of respondents use available books collection in the library. Almost a half of respondents (45.2%) carry out their activities by reading and copying available books collectionas information acquired from the library of Mathematic and Natural Science Facultyof Gadjah Mada University of Yogyakarta. Information searching carried out by user is to fulfill their needs such as finishing study or research, references in decisionmaking, research activity, supporting teaching-learning activities, and intending to know the most recent information. The user show that they have self-solving whwn faced with difficulties in searching information.
