Abstract

Independence is one of the important aspects in the formation of a child's character, the existence of an independent attitude that results in not depending on a child on others, but in reality today can still be found children who are less independent. In the scope of education, one of the ways that can be used to develop this independence is by using the habituation method. This study aims to see how the form and results of implementing the habituation method for children aged 4-5 years in the Salsabila Al-Muthi'in Integrated Islamic Kindergarten where through initial observation data there are still children who are less independent. In addition, through this research, it can also be seen what are the inhibiting and supporting factors for implementing the habituation method. This research is a qualitative study using a descriptive approach. The subjects of this research were the principal, teachers or educators, the curriculum used, and 62 group A students at Salsabila Al-Muthi'in Integrated Islamic Kindergarten. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out in three ways, namely through observation, interviews and documentation which were then analyzed through the process of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. To test the validity of the data from the research results, researchers used technical triangulation and source triangulation.. Based on the research that has been conducted, the results show that (1) The habituation method can develop children's independence through various habituation activities such as habituation activities in daily activities and habituation with Islamic characters such as habituation to pray dhuha and dhuhur in congregation, and muroja'ah memorization every day (2) The results of implementing the habituation method show positive results on children's independence (3) There are several inhibiting factors in the application of this habituation method including: parents who are less cooperative, a less supportive environment, less consistent teachers, and inadequate facilities. On the other hand, there are supporting factors for the implementation of this method, namely the existence of good cooperation between all elements and the quality of teachers with good teaching skills.
