Abstract

Arabic language instruction in Indonesia continues to encounter several challenges, particularly in students’ low proficiency in listening skills (maharah istima’). This issue is largely due to the use of monotonous teaching methods, limited interactive media, and insufficient practice. Therefore, this study aims to examine: 1) Whether a significant difference in learning outcomes between students taught using Wordwall media and those taught with conventional methods, and 2) Whether the use of game-based media is effective in enhancing the listening skills of Grade XI students at MA Al-Musthofa. The research adopts a quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach, specifically using a non-equivalent control group design. Both the experimental and control groups were given a pretest before treatment and a posttest afterward to assess changes in performance. Data collection involved descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing using SPSS version 23 for Windows. The results indicated that the experimental group’s average posttest score (81.71) was higher than that of the control group (75.20). Both groups showed moderate N-gain scores, with the experimental group achieving a higher gain (0.44 vs. 0.33). The t-test produced a significance level of 0.000, indicating a statistically significant difference. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant improvement in the listening skills of students who used Wordwall game media compared to those who did not.
