Abstract
The utilization of instant messaging applications has surged alongside advancements in communication technology. These applications serve various purposes, including individual, group, and business communication. Their benefits encompass real-time message delivery, global interaction without geographical constraints, and additional features such as voice/video calls and file sharing. However, there are associated risks of misuse, including fraud and indecent activities. One notable misuse is online prostitution, wherein sex workers employ digital technology to promote services and secure clients. Prostitution is a cybercrime that contravenes legal and social norms. Hence, effective forensic measures are imperative to combat existing online prostitution. This study advances a mobile forensic framework by applying composite logic methods to the NIST, NIJ, and DFRWS frameworks. Composite logic is an approach that integrates various logical principles to reach a conclusion or resolve a problem. The composite logic method involves stages of identification, classification (extraction based on logic model, terminology, and composite role model), classification based on composite role model, and collaboration based on composite role model. Each stage is meticulously applied to the NIST, NIJ, and DFRWS frameworks. The application of the composite logic method to the NIST, NIJ, and DFRWS frameworks results in four principal stages: resources identification, collection, examination and analysis, and evaluation and reporting. These stages are further divided into seven sub-stages: identification, preservation, acquisition, collection, examination, analysis, and reporting. The developed mobile forensic framework is designated the Simple Mobile Forensic Framework (SMFF), with distinct stages of preservation, acquisition, collection, and analysis. These stages are specific to mobile forensics due to the unique characteristics and challenges posed by mobile devices, which differ from other digital devices. This process necessitates specialized expertise and tools designed to handle the diverse operating systems, data formats, and storage methods used in mobile devices. The data obtained from the implementation of the Simple Mobile Forensic Framework (SMFF) includes video files, images, audio, contacts, and some supporting data.
