Abstract

A library is an institution that functions as an information provider for users, so that users get the information they need. Therefore, this research aims to determine the influence of the availability of gender collections in the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library on fulfilling students information needs about gender. This type of research uses quantitative methods with an assosiative approach in the form of causal relationships. This research uses two variables, including collection availability (independent variable) and student information needs (dependent variable). The subjects in this research are active students for the 2022/2023 academic year at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, the object of this research is the availability of gender collections in the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library and students information needs about gender. The population in this study were active students for the 2022/2023 academic year at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, totaling 26.169 with a sample of 100 respondents identified using the Slovin formula. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, documentation, questionnaires and interviews. The tests used in this research are validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and for data analysis using simple linier regression analysis tests, correlation analysis tests, coefficient of determination analysis tests, and hypothesis testing using the t test. Based on the results of data processing, it can be concluded that the availability of gender collections at the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library has an influence on fulfilling students information needs about gender. This is proven by using the t test where 6,613 > 1,290. another finding that can be reported in thos research is the simple linier regression line equation Y + 8.961 + 0,518 X. based on this equation, it can be explained that every unit increase or decrease in the gender collection availability variable (X) will be followed by an increase or decrease in students information needs about gender (Y) by 0,518.
