Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the interior design of the reading room to the interest of visiting users in the reference service of the Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University Library Yogyakarta. The method used is a correlation survey with a quantitative approach. The subjects in this study were visitors to Sunan Kalijaga UIN Library. The research sample was 100 respondents with the technique used accidental sampling. Observation and questionnaires became techniques for data collection. The data analysis phase starts from testing the prerequisites of normality, homogeneity, linearity, hypothesis, and correlation. Based on the results of data analysis, interior design elements and visiting interest are in the high category. The results of the correlation of reading room interior design with the interest of visiting users there is a strong relationship with a correlation coefficient value of 0.647. This research has a positive correlation where good interior design will be higher in visiting. Conversely, bad interior design will lower the interest in visiting. Libraries need to pay attention to normal standards such as table spacing, room light, air circulation, and sound in the library, as well as the latest interior design innovations in increasing interest in visits.
