Abstract

Effective science learning at an early age can strengthen children's logical thinking skills. However, the reality in the field shows that current science learning still does not fully involve children actively. Existing methods, such as demonstrations and worksheets, are limited in providing optimal hands-on experience, so that the delivery of scientific concepts is not optimal, less interesting, and not entirely based on the child’s developmental level. therefore the utilization of natural media as an innovation in learning. This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the utilization of natural media on the development of science skills of children aged 5-6 years at amal insani kindergarten. This type of research is quantitative research with a form of pre-experiment and research design, namely one-group pretest-posttest. The subjects of this study were 5-6 year old students at Amal Insani Kindergarten. The data were collected through questionnaires (observations) and secondary data in the form of activity documentation in photos. The analysis was conducted using simple linear regression techniques with the aid of Microsoft Excel and SPSS software. The analysis process involved the output of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and descriptive statistics. The research results indicate that the use of natural materials as media has a positive effect on the development of science skills. This is evident from the higher average posttest score (9.1) compared to the average pretest score (1.9) and the results of the Wilcoxon test, which show an Asymp. Sig. value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. These findings demonstrate that utilizing natural materials as media positively impacts the development of science skills in children aged 5-6 years. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of natural materials as media influences the development of science skills in children aged 5-6 years at Amal Insani Kindergarten.
