Abstract

This study aims to determine digital preservation activities on the results of the transfer of textual static archive media and the obstacles faced and solutions applied by the DIY Regional Library and Archives Service. The subject of this research is an employee of the DIY Regional Library and Archives Service in the field of Static Archives Management. The object of this research is digital preservation on the results of the transfer of textual static archival media. This research method uses a qualitative research design descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out by data reduction, data presentation, verification or conclusions. The results of this study are presented based on the theory of digital preservation proposed by Putu Laxman Pendit. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the digital preservation activities carried out are technology preservation, refreshing or updating, data migration, emulation, digital archaeology, digital to analog, and backup. In the implementation of digital preservation activities carried out, several obstacles were found related to the synchronization of media access systems, IT master plans, budgets, and human resources. Related to the obstacles faced, the DIY Regional Library and Archives Service can still overcome them, namely collaborating with third parties, namely developers related to media access systems, prioritizing the urgency of technology needs, minimizing the amount of budget expenditures, and collaborating with universities related to activities for students.
