Abstract

Cases of infidelity at this time have become a common news. This phenomenon is considered an irregularity in the marital relationship, based on data from the religious justice center regarding the mediation of sued divorce cases as of MS/PTA 2022, there have been 33,115 cases of divorce due to alimony and infidelity issues. Film as one of the media that can convey a message to its audience makes the film Ipar Adalah Maut a learning medium for the audience. This study aims to find out how the perception of the students of the Al-Muhsin Salafiyah Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta regarding the film Ipar Adalah Maut. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. This study uses Alex Sobur's perception theory which has three perception processes, namely selection, interpretation (organizing), and reaction. The results of this study show that at the selection stage, the students have an interest and find uniqueness in the film. The interpretation stage describes how they interpret the film Ipar Adalah Maut and respond to the issue of infidelity. Meanwhile, at the reaction stage, it can be seen their point of view as students armed with religious knowledge and lessons that can be taken to be applied in the future.
