Abstract

Social criticism serves as public oversight of bureaucracy as a system of government. This study aims to determine how Bareng Warga engages in social criticism of bureaucracy regarding the Free Nutritious Meals program in the virtual public space on X. Research data was collected from January 6 to March 31, 2025, using qualitative content analysis based on three forms of social criticism of bureaucracy by Syukur Abdullah. The results show that Bareng Warga utilizes virtual public spaces, in this case using the features of the X platform, to convey social criticism that mostly highlights the failures of general government bureaucracy, development bureaucracy, and service bureaucracy, which are considered to be lacking in transparency, responsiveness, and fulfillment of community rights. This criticism underscores the need for openness, better service quality, and protection of citizens' rights as part of social oversight. Through this virtual public space, public participation is strengthened to encourage a transparent, responsive, and accountable bureaucracy in order to achieve the goal of public welfare, particularly in the areas of nutrition and health, which are the focus of the program.
