Abstract

This study aims to analyze in depth how facilities and infrastructure management plays a role in improving the quality of learning in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Berbah, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. Educational facilities and infrastructure are important components that support the success of the teaching and learning process. Effective management not only focuses on the availability of facilities, but also includes aspects of planning, procurement, utilization, maintenance, and continuous evaluation so that every educational resource can be used optimally. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews with principals, teachers, education staff, and students, as well as documentation studies on school inventory data. Data analysis uses the interactive model of Miles Huberman and Saldana which includes data condensation, data presentation, and inductive conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the management of facilities and infrastructure at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Berbah has been running quite well and systematically. The planning stage is carried out through annual work meetings by considering academic needs and school budget conditions. The procurement process is carried out transparently by involving various parties, while maintenance is carried out regularly by a special team responsible for the cleanliness and feasibility of facilities. The use of learning facilities such as Smart TVs, computer laboratories, and digital media has been proven to be able to increase student interaction and learning motivation. A conducive classroom atmosphere, adequate facility support, and the availability of interactive learning media have a direct impact on improving the quality of the learning process and outcomes. However, this study also found several obstacles such as the limitations of science laboratories, the lack of optimal book collections in libraries, and the need for advanced training for teachers in utilizing learning technology. This condition shows the need for sustainable strategic planning, especially in terms of budget allocation, development of laboratory facilities, and capacity building of human resources.
