Abstract

This research aims to examine how much influence pop music has on user comfort and whether it is appropriate to select pop music to be listened to at the Muhammadiyah University of Magelang Library. The subjects in this research were active users of the Muhammadiyah University of Magelang library who were in the library or who had visited the library with 98 respondents. This research uses an associative quantitative research method with two variables, namely the independent variable (pop music) and the dependent variable (user comfort). In collecting data in this research, questionnaires, interviews and documentation were used. Next, to process the data using Product Moment correlation and Cronbach's Alpha. Data analysis uses simple linear regression analysis and correlation analysis. The research results show that there is a positive influence between pop music and user comfort with tcount 12.936 > ttable 1.985. The regression equation Y=7.161 + 1.095 X. Then pop music influences user comfort by 63.5% where the rsquare is 0.635 and the correlation coefficient is 0.797 between variable X (Pop music) with variable Y (user comfort). The correlation value is in the range 0.60 – 0.799 which indicates a strong level of relationship. The conclusion obtained is that listening to or playing pop music in the library has a positive effect on the comfort of users in the Muhammadiyah University of Magelang library. Apart from that, there are also other factors that influence user comfort that have not been studied.
