Abstract

The dissemination of information in libraries faces several challenges when using websites as a medium. These challenges include inappropriate use of media or formats, lack of innovation from human resources, or failure to address user needs. The Riau Islands Province is one of the regions with a high level of digital literacy, scoring 3.59. Therefore, it would be unusual for a library website in this province not to be effectively utilized. This study aims to examine the dissemination process of library information through the website of the Library and Archives Service of the Riau Islands Province. The researchers employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, resulting in seven informants: two library automation managers and five users of the Library and Archives Service website in the Riau Islands Province. Data analysis was conducted using Miles and Huberman’s theory, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study reveals the process of disseminating library information through the website of the Library and Archives Service of the Riau Islands Province. The dissemination process involves several stages: receiving information sources, processing the information into narrative content, publishing the information through digital media (the website), managing the context of the information on the media used, and the final stage of delivering the information to users. This research aims to apply the information dissemination model from Ordonez and Serrat's theory to understand the process of information dissemination on the website. The dissemination of information is conducted through the website by providing library-related information through several elements: source, message, media, context, and users. By employing this theory, it is hoped that information dissemination via the website can be more targeted, better aligned with community needs, and contribute to improving literacy and the utilization of library and archive services in the Riau Islands Province.
