Abstract

Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea L. Moench) is a medicinal plant with immunomodulatory benefits due to its active compounds, namely echinacoside, caffeic acid derivatives, chicoric acid, kaftaric acid, and chlorogenic acid. Efforts to increase the phenolic content in echinacea plants need to be carried out through organic cultivation. This study aimed to determine the effect of goat manure and guano fertilizer on the growth, biomass, total phenolic content, and total flavonoid content of echinacea plants. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design with nine treatments, namely goat manure doses of 5 tons.ha-1, 10 tons.ha-1, 15 tons. ha⁻¹, 20 tons.ha⁻¹, and guano fertilizer doses 5 tons.ha⁻¹, 10 tons.ha⁻¹, 15 tons.ha⁻¹, 20 tons.ha⁻¹, as well as No. fertilizer, with four replicates for each treatment dose. The results showed that the highest growth of ekinase plants was observed in the guano fertilizer treatment at a dose of 15 tons. ha-1, with an average plant height of 77.4425 cm, 105.5 leaves, flowering initiation in the 10th week, 26 flowers, and plant biomass in the form of wet weight of 1182.9 grams and dry weight of 281.3 grams. The highest total phenol content was found in the guano fertilizer treatment at a dose of 5 tons.ha-1 in the root section, namely 359.70 mg GAE.g-1. The highest total flavonoid content was found in the goat manure fertilizer treatment at a dose of 20 tons.ha-1 in the canopy section, namely 15.34 mg QE.g-1. Based on the results, it can be concluded that guano fertilizer treatment can increase the growth, biomass, and phenol content of echinacea plants, and goat manure fertilizer treatment can increase the total flavonoid content in echinacea plants.
