Abstract

This study discusses teacher strategies in STEAM learning activities in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at RA Masyithoh Pangukan Tridadi Sleman Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study is to determine teacher strategies in STEAM learning activities in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at RA Masyithoh Pangukan Tridadi Sleman Yogyakarta. To uncover these problems in depth and comprehensively, researchers used descriptive qualitative research methods with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques were carried out with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the research results obtained, namely in using the STEAM approach, teachers encourage children to develop thinking, creativity, and innovation skills. The results of this study indicate that the teacher's strategy in learning STEAM activities includes providing opportunities for children to explore tools and play materials with various senses, as well as directly providing children with experiences about science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics. Among the media used in learning as a learning strategy is Loose Part media, children's educational play tools in the form of items found around the environment can be from natural materials (wood, seeds, leaves, flowers, etc.) and used materials (plastic bottles, bottle caps, wheels, plastic caps, etc.) that are easy to find. Storybooks as a tool to tell about pictures, animals. Teachers use storybooks according to the theme or topic discussed in story time. So that with the existence of STEAM learning activities can train creativity, cognitive, social emotional and physical motor skills of early childhood.
