Abstract
The economic marginalization of women is a structural and cultural issue that persists globally and in Indonesia. Although women are the primary drivers of MSMEs, their access to productive resources such as capital and asset ownership remains highly unequal. This barrier is exacerbated by gender-biased religious interpretations and patriarchal social constructs that place men in primary control of family finances. The Amrih Sejati Bantul Women's Cooperative presents itself as a transformative strategy that promises an alternative empowerment space. This research examines how the cooperative's operational model and empowerment practices represent Islamic values of gender justice and the extent to which the cooperative functions as an instrument for actualizing the maqāṣid asy-Syarī'ah (obligatory objectives) in overcoming structural and cultural barriers to women's economic well-being. This research is field research using qualitative methods. The approach used is philosophical, applying Jasser Auda's systems approach. The main theoretical framework consists of Jasser Auda's contemporary theory of the maqāṣid asy-Syarī'ah (six system features: cognitive nature, wholeness, openness, interrelated hierarchy, multidimensionality, and purposefulness) and Nur Rofi'ah's theory of intrinsic justice. Primary data sources were obtained through in-depth interviews with administrators and members, participant observation, and a study of internal cooperative documents. Data analysis was conducted inductively using triangulation of techniques and data sources. The results show that the Amrih Sejati Women's Cooperative has successfully represented the values of intrinsic justice at a high level in 8 of 15 indicators, particularly in the aspects of equal access to productive resources, control over assets and autonomy over economic access. The cooperative has also been proven to actualize the maqāṣid asy-Syarī'ah, with five of Jasser Auda's six system features at a high level of actualization, capable of overcoming structural (collateral requirements, banking procedures) and cultural (male-dominated stigma, the need for husband's permission) barriers.
