Abstract
This research aims to determine the impact of the availability of the Emerald e-journal database on the information needs of undergraduate students in the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The type of this research is descriptive quantitative. The data collection techniques in this study use questionnaires or surveys, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study are undergraduate students from the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta who have accessed the Emerald e-journal database more than once. The object of this research is the availability of the Emerald e-journal database. The population in this study amounts to 2,402, with a sample of 96 respondents. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with a quota sampling method. The research results show that the variable of the availability of the Emerald e-journal database falls into the Good category, with a score of 3.17. Meanwhile, on the variable of fulfilling the information needs of FEBI students, it falls into the Good category, with a score of 3.15. The availability of the Emerald e-journal database in meeting the information needs of FEBI students has a positive relationship with a value of 0.804. If we look at the coefficient interval, the value of 0.804 falls between 0.80 – 1.000, indicating that the level of relationship between the availability of the Emerald e-journal database and the variable of information needs fulfillment for FEBI students falls into the very strong category. Then the hypothesis test results state that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, meaning there is an influence between the availability of the Emerald e-journal database and the fulfillment of information needs of students in the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The influence of the variable availability of the Emerald e-journal database is 64.7%, and the remaining 35.3% is influenced by other variables.
