Abstract
This study aims to analyze and examine Factors Influencing the Decision to Use BMT Services in Semarang City. The study is motivated by the increasing role of Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) as an Islamic microfinance institution in supporting financial inclusion, as well as the importance of understanding the factors affecting members’ behavior in making transaction decisions based on sharia principles. This research employed a quantitative approach with an associative research design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 115 BMT members in Semarang City selected using purposive sampling techniques. The data analysis technique used was linear regression analysis, including validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, partial hypothesis testing (t-test), simultaneous testing (F-test), and coefficient of determination testing (R²). The results indicate that partially, product image, religiosity, and member knowledge significantly influence the transaction decisions of BMT members in Semarang City, while service quality does not have a significant effect. The product image variable has a regression coefficient of 0.609 with a positive direction and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that a better BMT product image increases members’ transaction decisions. The service quality variable has a regression coefficient of 0.132 with a positive relationship direction; however, the significance value of 0.171 > 0.05 indicates that service quality does not significantly affect transaction decisions. Furthermore, religiosity has a positive and significant effect with a regression coefficient of 0.253 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, showing that higher levels of religiosity increase members’ tendency to conduct transactions at BMT. Meanwhile, member knowledge has a negative and significant effect on transaction decisions, with a regression coefficient of -0.797 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. This finding indicates that members with higher levels of knowledge tend to be more critical and selective in making transaction decisions at BMT. The findings reveal that religiosity and member knowledge are significant factors influencing transaction decisions among BMT members in Semarang City. Religiosity positively affects transaction decisions, indicating that religious values play an important role in encouraging members to transact at BMT. In contrast, member knowledge negatively affects transaction decisions, suggesting that members with higher knowledge levels tend to be more critical and selective in determining transaction decisions. This study provides empirical contributions to the development of Islamic economics, particularly in consumer behavior studies within Islamic microfinance institutions. In addition, the findings may serve as practical recommendations for BMTs in formulating strategies to improve member literacy, strengthen religiosity values, and enhance service quality in accordance with sharia principles.
