Abstract

Optimizing Management Information Systems is a necessity for higher education institutions to improve the overall governance of academic services. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation, optimization, and implications of Management Information Systems in improving the quality of academic services at the An-Nur Institute of Qur'anic Sciences, Yogyakarta. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documents, and audiovisual materials. Research informants included institutional leaders, academic administrators, deans, heads of study programs, lecturers, and students. Data analysis was conducted through organizing the data, reading the entire data set, coding, extracting themes, and interpreting the data. Data validity was strengthened through triangulation, comparing data from various sources, methods, researchers, and theories to ensure consistency and accuracy of the information. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The implementation of Management Information Systems at the An-Nur Institute of Qur'anic Sciences, Yogyakarta has supported academic data management, academic information provision, academic data reporting, decision-making, and monitoring and evaluation; (2) Optimization of the Management Information System at the An-Nur Yogyakarta Institute of Al-Qur'an Sciences is carried out through improving technological infrastructure, improving the quality of the Academic Information System (SIAKAD), improving Human Resources competency, management policies and support, and regular system maintenance; and (3) The implications of optimizing the Management Information System at the An-Nur Yogyakarta Institute of Al-Qur'an Sciences are seen in the increased effectiveness of academic services, accessibility of academic services, transparency of academic services, satisfaction of academic service users, and productivity of academic service users. Thus, this study confirms that the success of the Management Information System is not only determined by the availability of technology, but by the integration between system quality, information quality, service quality, user competency, management support, and continuous evaluation.
