Abstract

This study aims to determine library users’ perceptions of comfort at the Yogyakarta City Library. The aspects of comfort examined in this study include layout, furniture, lighting, air circulation, and color. The research employs a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The sample size was determined using Yamane formula, resulting in 99 respondents selected throught incidental sampling. This study uses a single variable, namely users’ perception of comfort at the Yogyakarta City Library. Data collection techniques include questionnaires, observation, interviews, and documentation. Validity testing was conducted using the Product Moment Correlation formula, while reliability was tested using Cronbach’s Alpha formula (r11), assisted by IBM SPSS Statistics 25. Data were analyzed using the mean and grandmean formulas, and final conclusions were drawn using the interval scale. The findings show that the average scores for each indicator are as follows: layout 3,40, furniture 3,28, lighting 3,42, air circulation 3,42, and color 3,46. The highest average score was for the color indicator, while the lowest was for furniture. The overall grandmean score was 3,39. Therefore, it can be concluded that users feel very comfortable with the new Yogyakarta City Library building.
