Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of environmental information literacy and independence among female students at Al-Fithroh Islamic Boarding School, as well as the influence of environmenta linformation literacy on student independence. The quantitative study uses a descriptive approach. The variables in this study are environmental literacy (X) and student independence (Y). The population consists of 146 female students at the school in Bantul. A sample of 107 students was selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. Validity was tested using product-moment correlation, and reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha formula. Descriptive statistics, namely the mean and grand mean, as well as simple linear regression analysis, were used for data analysis. Data processing was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 30. The results of the study indicate that female students' environmental literacy falls into the "very good" category, with a score of 3.50. Santri independence falls into the good category with a score of 3.25. Based on the simple regression analysis, it can be concluded that environmental information literacy influences independence, as evidenced by a significance level of 0.001, which is less than 0.05. The coefficient of determination, or R-square value, was 0.441, indicating that variable X (environmental information literacy) influenced variable Y (student independence) by 44.1%. However, the R-square value in the table was 0.664, suggesting a strong relationship between environmental information literacy and student independence. The t-test results indicate that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
