Abstract

The purpose of this study consists of three kinds, namely to determine the implementation of user education, information retrieval skills students of 2012, and the influence of user education to information retrieval skills students AMIKOM force STMIK 2012 in Yogyakarta AMIKOM STMIK Library. Data collection methods used in this study is a questionnaire or questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire or closed questionnaire using Likert scale. Respondents in this study were all students of Yogyakarta force STMIK AMIKOM 2012. Sampling technique in this study using accidental sampling. By using the formula proposed by Bilson Simamora, then determined the amount of sample is 96 respondents. To determine the implementation of user education and information retrieval skills of students in the 2012 grand mean using the formula. While the user to determine the effect of education on information retrieval skills students AMIKOM force STMIK 2012 at the Library STMIK AMIKOM Yogyakarta is by using the Pearson product moment formula. The results obtained from this study are, (1) the implementation of user education in Library STMIK AMIKOM Yogyakarta is good with an average value of 3,00, (2) information retrieval skills students AMIKOM force STMIK 2012 at the Library STMIK AMIKOM Yogyakarta is well with average value of 2,96, (3) the influence of user education to information retrieval skills students AMIKOM force STMIK 2012 at the Library STMIK AMIKOM Yogyakarta is quite high with an average value of 0.710. This hypothesis is the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the working hypothesis (Ha) is accepted it means there is influence between user education to information retrieval skills students AMIKOM force STMIK 2012 at the Library STMIK AMIKOM Yogyakarta. In this case the author gives advice that is worth noting about the CD-ROOM facilities such as the availability of sufficient information data CDs, and CD is checked if there is a CD that is damaged to immediately replaced with the hope that the new CD can be used to find the information that students need.
