Abstract

This study aims to determine how the competencies of librarians, librarians know how to work performance, as well as knowing how the relationship librarian competencies and job performance in UPT Library Gadjah Mada University. This research is quantitative. The variables used were the independent variables (competence librarian) and the dependent variable (performance). Sampling by purposive sampling, with a sample of 34 respondents. Data collection methods used in this study include observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The method of analysis used by correlation analysis techniques. Data were processed using SPSS software version 16 for windows. The results showed that the competence of librarians generally good with a grand mean value of 3.15, and a generally good performance with a grand mean value of 3.17. Furthermore, there is a positive and significant relationship between librarians competence and job performance in UPT Library Gadjah Mada University. From the results it can be seen that the magnitude of correlation coefficient of correlation between variables librarian competencies and job performance is equal to 0.582. Because the count r> r table at the 5% significance level (0.433) and a significant level of 1% (0.549), it is said to be a significant correlation. From the results of the hypothetical test, the hypothesis Ha is accepted, which means that there is a relationship librarian competencies and job performance in UPT Central Library of University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. Referring to the results presented as for the suggestion that the author, among others, (1) Librarians can improve information technology competence with training or seminars related to the field of information technology in libraries. (2) Librarians can retrace leadership training / leadership or the leadership to improve life trying to be a good example to show the spirit to strive to provide the best possible work. (3) the library can make efforts to increase the competence of librarians that librarians work performance will be better to run the library functions properly.
