Abstract
The objective of this research was to know the role of books collection in Braille to fill the needs of information of the students in MTsLB/A Yaketunis Yogyakarta and difficulties that were occurred. This research used qualitative method. Data were collected with observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis from this research used the theory from Matthew B. Milles& Michael Huberman, including data reducing, data serving and verification. The result of this research was the role of books collection in Braille to fill the needs of information of the students was not fulfilled because from 6 elements of the criteria of the information materials only 1 aspect that is appropriate. The constraints that was faced by students in accessing information from books collection in Braille were limited collection, students had a wet hands so that can damage the writing of the Braille, and not all the teachers who support the subject can read the Braille. The blind students used audio media to fill the needs of information. This research suggests to establish cooperation with library that is providing books collection in Braille and attending training for teachers who are not blind to be able to help students to get the information needed.
